About the Medical Genomics Group:

The position is within and will be supported by the Medical Genomics group which is a team comprised of bioinformaticians.

Role Purpose / Responsibilities :

The role involves providing a bioinformatics service to research groups within QIMR Berghofer. The work will involve a variety of sequence types in particular RNAseq. The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Work with different researchers on a variety of projects
  • Develop and run established NGS pipelines
  • Provide advice on study design and interpretation of results
  • Summarize and communicate study findings to researchers
  • Prepare figures for publication

About you:

The role calls for an enthusiastic bioinformatician who enjoys working within a team with the following skills:

  • Experienced in the design, analysis and interpretation of RNAseq data
  • A tertiary qualification (MSc, PhD or equivalent) or demonstrated skills in next generation sequence analysis
  • Expert in R and/or Python or Perl
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A desire to work as part of a team

Salary range is $76,615.11-$82,202.13 per annum. This is a full-time appointment for 2 years.
