About QIMR Berghofer:

QIMR Berghofer is a world-leading translational medical research institute focused on improving health by developing new diagnostics, better treatments and prevention strategies, specifically in the areas of cancer, infectious diseases, mental health and chronic disorders. Based in Herston, Brisbane and working in close collaboration with clinicians and other research institutes, QIMR Berghofer is home to more than 600 scientists, students and support staff.

About the Sid Faithful Brain Cancer Laboratory:

The Sid Faithful Brain Cancer Laboratory studies the most common and aggressive forms of both adult and paediatric brain cancers. We aim to develop novel therapies to treat brain cancers and to better understand the mechanisms responsible for tumour initiation and recurrence.

Role Purpose / Responsibilities :

The successful candidate will operate within a small team of motivated scientists headed by Prof Bryan Day. They will be required to undertake studies to further uncover the molecular mechanisms responsible for brain cancer. The group's primary focus is in defining new therapies to treat these aggressive diseases.

About you:

The successful candidate will have completed a PhD in the last 5 years that includes training in molecular biology. Knowledge of cancer biology and previous experience performing tissue culture and general molecular biology techniques will be essential. Proficiency with experimental tumour models in mice, performing drug screens and previous brain cancer or Eph receptor biology research experience would be highly desirable.

The salary range is $76,615 to $82,202 per annum. This is a full time appointment for 2 years, with continued appointment dependent on funding outcomes.
