About QIMR Berghofer:

About the Immunology in Cancer and Infection Laboratory:

The Immunology in Cancer and Infection Lab, lead by Prof. Mark Smyth, has over 25 international immunologists and cancer biologists working to understand how the immune system combats cancer and to develop new therapies for patients. The lab conducts both basic and preclinical research in a field that is producing dramatic improvements in the treatment of cancer patients.

Role Purpose / Responsibilities :

In this role, you will provide essential support to the lab by helping to manage transgenic and knockout mouse colonies, including genotyping by PCR and phenotyping by flow cytometry.

You will provide operational support through equipment and laboratory upkeep, purchasing and record keeping.

The position involves frequent interaction with the researchers and offers the chance to be part of world class research by assisting the researchers in their experiments.

As an experienced animal technician or junior RA, this position offers you an excellent opportunity to expand your laboratory experience and grow your skill base.

About you:

The role will suit people who are comfortable working with experimental animal colonies and who enjoy an interesting and dynamic workplace.

You will need a diploma or Bachelor level qualification in Science, Animal Technology or similar.

You will also need enthusiasm for working in a team environment and be confident communicating with people of diverse background.

You should be self directed, be able to complete tasks independently and value precision and accuracy.

Demonstrated experience in PCR or flow cytometry is desirable.

Salary range is $62,044 to $73,934 per annum. This is a full time appointment for 1 year with the possibility for extension dependent on funding.
