About the team:

Scientific Services provides a diverse array of essential services to researchers across QIMR Berghofer; including flow cytometry, microscopy, histology, GMP production, animal facilities, analytical facilities, sample processing, building services, cryogenics and stores.


Role Purposes / Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility in this role involves routine sample collection and processing, preparation of paraffin and frozen sections and histochemical staining of slides as well as maintenance of general laboratory facilities. The role will provide technical advice to clients and supervisory support in the day-to-day running of a Histology laboratory. A focus on, and communication with, clients to provide the appropriate service requirements and build productive relationships is essential in this role.


About You:

The ideal candidate will have a degree and 4 to 5 years experience in either histology or electron microscopy laboratories. You will be required to have an eye for detail and excellent abilities in keeping accurate records. Demonstrated experience in processing samples, embedding and sectioning skills, is essential for the position. Ideally, you will have knowledge and/or experience in IHC techniques (Tyramide). As a senior member of a small team, you will be a supportive leader and dynamic team member. This is a great opportunity for the successful candidate to form productive relationships with internal clients and demonstrate their outstanding trouble-shooting ability, client service and communication abilities.
