Based in Herston, Brisbane and working in close collaboration with clinicians and other research institutes, QIMR Berghofer is home to more than 600 scientists, students and support staff.

About the team:

This position will work between two groups, the Medical Genomics group comprised of bioinformatcians who focus on genomics and transcriptomics in cancer, and the Malaria Immunology group who focus on using single-cell genomics to study T-cell responses during experimental malaria.

Role Purposes / Responsibilities:

The role involves working under supervision to analyze transcriptomic NGS and single cell data. The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Run established NGS analysis pipelines
  • Develop and maintain analysis pipelines
  • Test and benchmark new and existing tools
  • Work with collaborators to help interpret data

About You:

The role calls for a Bioinformatician with the following skills:

  • Experience with NGS data is essential
  • Experience in the analysis of single cell RNAseq is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in R and/or Python or Perl is desirable
  • Proficiency with the Linux/Unix Operating System is desirable
  • Ability to work as part of a team with good communication skills is essential
  • A PhD is mandatory

Salary range is $76,615-$82,202 per annum. This is a full time appointment for 2 years.
