About QIMR Berghofer:

QIMR Berghofer is a world leading medical research institute focusing on three main areas of research: cancer; infectious diseases; and mental health and a range of complex disorders. Our aim is to improve health by developing prevention strategies, new diagnostics and better treatments.

Role Purposes / Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities will include the coaching and management of six direct reports in the provision of information and advice to all institute staff on grant related matters, such as grant funding opportunities, closing dates and eligibility for particular types of grants. You will liaise with internal stakeholders such as Business Development, Regulatory Affairs, legal advisors, and Human Resources to ensure compliance with funding deeds and internal policies and procedures. You will also ensure the effective management of financial aspects of grants through regular review of grant balances and expense allocations.

About You:

To be considered for this role, you must have tertiary qualifications in science accounting or equivalent demonstrable commercial experience, particularly in the administration of large and complex grants or project budgets and contracts is a key requirement. You must also have experience in managing a team, budget management, and preparing high level reports and financial statements.

You will have exceptional interpersonal & negotiation skills, be able to manage conflicting priorities, and act with a high level of autonomy.

Qualifications in science with a research background and experience working in a medical research environment will be highly regarded.
