About the Lab:

Applications are invited for a part-time Research Assistant to join the Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy Laboratory headed by Dr Michele Teng. The laboratory focuses on investigating how tumour-induced immune suppression impedes the effective treatment of established cancer.

Role Purposes / Responsibilities:

The applicant is required to have a strong technical skills in histology and microscopy. The ability to work unsupervised and communicate effectively with research and support staff is essential. The following duties will apply:

  • Using the Vectra slide scanner (PerkinElmer) to acquire data from tumor biopsies stained using multiplexed OPAL methodology.
  • Perform image data analysis using Inform image analysis software (PerkinElmer) and FCS Express 6plus software.
  • Routine maintenance of laboratory stocks/reagent aliquots

About You:

  • Strong expertise in histology and microscopy. This includes, specimen processing, preparation of histological slices and ability to perform traditional staining techniques.
  • The successful applicant needs to be well-versed in performing single and double immunohistochemistry (IHC) and multi-colour immunofluorescence stainings (IF), microscopy and data acquisition.
  • The applicant will be trained and required to be competent in using the Vectra slide scanner, InForm analysis and FCS Express 6plus software to perform data analysis.
  • Sound laboratory practice and record keeping.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
